:: TONGUE TWISTER =P ::

What is tongue twister?
A formula of sequence of words difficult to pronounce without blundering.
                                                                         [The Chambers Dictionary]

A tongue-twister is a phrase that is designed to be difficult to articulate properly, and can be used as a type of spoken (or sung) word game.
           [Wikipedia]

Now we have understood the meaning of tongue twister. Now, let try this one..=)

I saw Susie sitting in a shoe shine shop.
Where she sits she shines, and where she shines she sits.

How many boards could the Mongols hoard if the Mongol hordes got bored?

These are the tongue twister that my group need to present and teach them to the other friends. Though the tongue twister look simple and easy but never judge a book by its cover, ok! It was a challenge since to pronounce /s/ and /sh/, it was a bit tricky as we can easily to slip in pronouncing the words.

Thus, to overcome it, my group had practiced the tongue twister a thousand times until we were satisfied and we end up to find out the beat for the tongue twister which end up it sounded really nice. Besides, to make it much easier we had chunk the words and it really help to pronounce them correctly and clearly. We were really excited and glad that we can make it. Yippie! =)

Now, I will give you all a few examples of tongue twister. Try to say it out properly and clearly. Can you say them out quickly? Which are the most difficlt and challenging one?
Good Luck & Enjoys! ^_^

:: Miming ^_^ ::

This is the most special task for me as we need to make short video clip where we can’t have any verbal communication and try to convey our message to the viewers. First of all, we need to think of a situation, plan the storyboard, and choose the character. Our group came out with interesting idea where Nisa and I will become the bullies and we are going to bully Hubert, the innocent boy. However, Muslim come and approached us and reprimanded us that it is a bad attitude. We as the bullies change to a good girls and we all become good friends. It was a really sweet story yet a funny one. I’m glad our group able to come out with this special video clip and showed it in the class. I feel really happy and excited when Madam Ira had chosen our video as one of the best. Thank you, Madam! =) This is the link where you can watch our video clip. This is my group member's blog. Do follow him.. hehe.. Nway, thanks AHMAD MUSLIM DOLHAN.. As for others... Enjoys the video! What do you think? Sweet & cute, right? Hikhik..=)

:: DIALOGUE [WEEK 2] #Paid# ::

In week 2, we had make role play in a group of four. We are consists of 4 members that are Hubert Douglas, Ahmad Muslim Dolhan, Dayang Khairunnisa Abang Sazali and me myself Hishafinaz Hasbie. For our role play, we had decided to play a situation of a housewarming party where me myself act as the host whereas three of them act as my friends.
For this role-play we need to memorize the script. It was quite a challenging for me as my script were quite long and we only have half an hour to memorize it (did not expect that we need to do the role play without script.. our mistake..==”). But it is not an excuse! Our group put our best effort and thanks God we were able to do the role play nicely..^_^ Congrats dear members… high five! hihi..
I realise that I have improved in the aspects of my confident level, my memorization as before this it is hard for me to recall back what I have memorize when I am in front of the class. My body will shake and I will hardly to remember what I need to say. Thanks God, now I am manage to overcome those feeling. Yippie! ^_^
As for now, I hope I can improve my quality in acting as I am really bad in acting and expression. (only a bit maybe because I don’t want to become an actress.. I want to be a TEACHER! Yeaaa~~
Here is our script. You may act it with your friends if you love to. =)

:: Pay the Debt ==" ::

This is our first task in the first week. But I just posted it by now since I really does not like to write (a confession..hihi) whether in a blog, in a diary, an essay or anything. But will try to force myself and trying to love it. Pray for me. Peace yo! =)

Week 1: What is Language?
Language is communication. Simple but it explains the word meaningfully.  Language is very important because with language it helps the community to interact and create a harmonious surrounding. There are two type of language; verbal language and non-verbal language. One must master at least two languages but if one could master more than two, it will be superb.

As for me, I could only master two languages that are Malay language which is my mother tongue and the other is English language. I knew a few languages, as I can understand a bit and speak a bit of the languages such as Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, and Melanau. How did I learn those? It is because I am influenced by my surrounding such as my friends, the media and many more.  I love to listen to a new language and imitate them as it sounds interesting. I hope that I can master at least another one new language by this year. InsyaAllah. Wish me best of luck! =)

:: Allomorph ::

In the last class, we continued on the study of morpheme but this time we learn about allomorph. What is ALLOMORPH? Allomorph is a variant form of morpheme. Allomorph occurs when the meanings of the words are the same but vary in sound. For example, ‘dog’ and ‘dogs’ is the same thing but the [s] sound indicates a plural form. Thus, the sounds of the words are different.  They are three allomorphs which indicate plural morpheme in English. They are [s], [z], and [ɪz]. For example:
       cats       /kaets/
       dogs     /dogz/
       horses /h Ɔ : s z    /
There is also past tense morpheme with three allomorphs. They are:
        / t /      talked
       / d /      juggled
       / d /      ended
Reflection: Before this I just knew about past tense and plural simply if there is /s/ then it indicates plural form whereas if it is ended with /ed/ it shows past tense. Thus, as I learned this topic, I knew that the /s/ and the /ed/ do had their own special name which is ALLOMORPH.  Hence, during the lesson we had enjoys to corrected our pronunciation although we had learn about them (past tense/singular/plural) even since we were in primary school.
Next, we continued to learn another type of allomorph which results in changes of the sounds but they have the same meaning which indicates past tense. For examples:
            “hang” ->  “hung”
             “read”  ->  “read”
             “run”  ->   “ran”
Everyone then needs to give one example of this type of allomorph. Hence, everyone came out with different examples as a result the whole class had learned many words. Amazing right! =)

ZERO ALLORMORPH:
Zero allomorph is the term given to the unit when there is no overt change in the item. For example:
E.g. “fish” (singular) + Ø -> “fish” (plural).
Zero allomorphs also include some words that show no change in masculine or feminine gender. For example:
 “doctor”, “clerk”, “bear”, “zebra”,
Reflection: Zero allomorph is not easy to be detected if our English is not strong enough. It is for sure will be hard to indicate whether the word shows a singular form or a plural form. Thus, we need to read a lot and refers to dictionary so that we would know which words have zero allomorph and which are not. Even now I need some times to thinks before I could give the examples. Therefore this is few examples which I could find on zero allomorph. Hopefully, it will give benefit to all. Enjoy chewing the words! ahakz =)
1.    teacher
2.    dog
3.    lawyer
4.    bear
5.    scissors
6.    shrimp
7.    salmon
8.    swine
9.    moose

:: A YEAR OLDER! ::

:: What is morpheme?? ::

Today we had learned about morpheme. A morpheme is the smallest meaningful unit in the grammar of a language. Its all about structure of words.Morpheme is classified either free or bound. Free morphemes can function independently by itself. For example, 'one', 'cat' and others. Bound morphemes appears as only part of word, as it combines with other base and may also other bound morphemes. For example, -dis appears by other morpheme to form a word. Most bound morphemes in English are affixes, particularly prefixes and suffixes.

This is the exercise on bound morphemes which I've done in group :)

PREFIX
BASE/ ROOT
SUFFIX

un
break
able
unbreakable
im
polite
ly
impolitely
un
touch
able
untouchable
un
forget
able
unforgettable
in
direct
ly
indirectly

Reflection: It was quite challenging to think of those words which involve both prefix and suffix (affix). It might because I was never concern about the uses of affixes. Before this, I was just simply say out or write down the words as anyhow rather than to understand the correct used of affixes. Therefore, it is important to have a DICTIONARY around if you want to make your life easier! ^_^

Next, in bound morpheme we can classified it into derivational and inflectional.

  • Derivational morphemes, when combined with a root, change either the semantic meaning or part of speech of the affected word. For example, in the word happiness, the addition of the bound morpheme -ness to the root happy changes the word from an adjective (happy) to a noun (happiness). In the word unkindun- functions as a derivational morpheme, for it inverts the meaning of the word formed by the root kind.
  • Inflectional morphemes modify a verb's tense or a noun's number without affecting the word's meaning or class. Examples of applying inflectional morphemes to words are adding -s to the root dog to form dogs and adding -ed to wait to form waited

Exercise on DERIVATIONAL:

Reflection: It was interesting to learn this although we have gone through it before (so many times). But, by learning it with the understand of the correct use of bound morpheme, I am able to understand them better rather than just simply memorize what the teacher taught me before. Besides, it was as well a challenging exercises ( as it is done without the help of dictionary, if there is dictionary it surely will be a piece of cake.. hihi) to complete.

* This is what I have learned during ELE's class. Basically, I could know and understand what is MORPHEME.

* sorry for any grammatical errors or any mistakes.. will improve myself from time to time.. InsyaAllah.. :)

* do leave comments.. thanks :)
